The August Events Worth Showing Up For

August calls for something to look forward to. And this month, it’s not just what’s on the plate — it’s the experience. From one-off collaborations to immersive culinary journeys, these are the events worth stepping out for. Here's everything happening at Commercial Bay restaurants this Restaurant Month — and beyond.

Advieh x Aurora

Wednesday 27 August | 6:30PM | $180pp

An immersive six-course dinner where two creative forces meet: Gareth Stewart (Advieh) and Robin Wagner (Aurora, Adelaide). Robin brings his fine-dining sensibility and ILA (Immersive Light & Art) flair, while Gareth anchors the evening with soul-driven Middle Eastern flavours.

The menu promises unexpected pairings, thoughtful wine and cocktail matches, and a vibrant atmosphere — all designed to feel personal, generous, and just a little bit indulgent. With only 80 seats, it’s an evening you won’t want to miss.

Around the World at Commercial Bay

Wednesday 20 August | 6:30PM | $140pp

A sell-out success last year, this progressive dining experience returns — taking guests through three of Commercial Bay’s favourite restaurants in one night. Advieh, Reign & Pour and Queens Rooftop each serve a course that captures their signature style.

The menu at each venue is a surprise — but the experience is designed to feel curated, transportive, and just the right level of extravagant. Along the way, collect stamps in your Dining Passport to mark the journey.

The Lodge x Man O' War Winery

Wednesday 20 August | $175pp

This August, The Lodge at Commercial Bay hosts An Evening with Man O’ War Winery — a dining experience that speaks to both palate and occasion. Executive Head Chef Matt Lambert curates a menu to meet each pour, from fresh, lifted Pinot Gris to the depth of structured Bordeaux blends, including two newly released vintages from the iconic Waiheke estate. Guiding the night is Cameron Douglas, New Zealand’s first and only Master Sommelier, offering his expertise on each pairing, the provenance, and the craft behind every bottle. A rare chance to taste, learn and linger — all in one sitting.

Taste of Jamaica

Wednesday 6 August | 6:30PM | $150pp

To celebrate Jamaican Independence Day, Gareth Stewart draws from his own heritage to create a soulful, spice-laced menu filled with fire-kissed dishes — think curry goat, jerk lamb ribs, and saltfish fritters done right.

In partnership with Appleton Estate and mixologist Adam Neal (Parasol & Co), the evening features bold, rum-forward cocktails including The Blazer, a flaming dessert creation that demands an audience. Food, culture, music and island heat — all in the heart of winter.
