Australian icon Oroton opens its first New Zealand store

One of Australia's most recognisable fashion houses is making its New Zealand debut, with Oroton opening its first New Zealand store at Commercial Bay on 16 July.

For more than 80 years, Oroton has earned a loyal following for its considered approach to design, pairing exceptional craftsmanship with a distinctly Australian point of view. What began in Sydney in 1938 has evolved into a modern fashion brand spanning ready-to-wear, leather goods, accessories and menswear, while remaining true to the principles that have defined it from the beginning: quality, functionality and timeless design.

Commercial Bay marks the next chapter in that story, bringing Oroton's complete world to New Zealand for the first time.

A space designed to feel like home

The new Ground Floor boutique has been thoughtfully designed to feel more like a home than a traditional retail store. Warm timber, brass detailing, soft leather and natural light create a calm, welcoming environment that reflects Oroton's evolving identity.

Creative Director Sophie Holt describes the space as having "a calm confidence", mirroring where the brand is today and how it hopes New Zealand customers will experience Oroton for the first time.

It's an environment that invites customers to slow down, discover the collection and experience the brand beyond the handbag.

More than leather goods

While Oroton has long been celebrated for its beautifully crafted handbags and leather accessories, today's collections extend well beyond the pieces that made the brand famous.

The Commercial Bay boutique showcases Oroton's full offering, including contemporary ready-to-wear, footwear, men's accessories and its signature leather goods. Across every collection, thoughtful design, premium materials and an emphasis on practicality come together to create pieces designed for everyday life.

Now celebrating 88 years of design and craftsmanship, Oroton continues to evolve while honouring the heritage that has made it an enduring name in Australian fashion.
